The protected categories are the foundation of employment law. Federal and state legislatures have determined that individuals in these categories should be given special protection. This course is a complete corporate compliance training program, but it is also a supplement to the Sexual Harassment Prevention training. Compliance training in the Protected Categories is also required for corporate compliance with federal guidelines.

DISCRIMINATION CONCEPTS BASED ON FEDERAL LAWS
  • Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended

    – prohibits harassment based on race, color, sex, religion and national origin

  • Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA)

    – prohibits employment discrimination based on age, 40 or older

  • Pending Employment Nondiscrimination Act (ENDA)
  • Americans with Disabilities Act, including the ADA Amendments Act of 2008

    – explores definitions of physical and mental disabilities

    – explores the concept of reasonable accommodation

  • Pregnancy Discrimination Act
  • Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act (GINA)
