Diverse Team Building Across Cultures

Diverse Team Building Course

Why Cultural Diversity Courses are Important

The modern workplace is built around diverse teams that come together to strategize, develop products, leverage each other’s strengths, solve business and institutional challenges, and keep their organizations competitive.

Diversity training for teams helps facilitate cross-cultural communication and enhances productivity, both inside and outside the workplace. You may already have a sense of what a diversity program looks like at your organization. Essentially, effective cultural diversity training is designed to bring together people from many walks of life with different experiences, including people of varying ancestries, religions, appearances, physical abilities, and lifestyles.

Address Cross Cross-Cultural Issues within Teams

Cross-cultural teams come in many shapes and sizes. A few examples of what a cross-cultural team might look like include:

  • Five people from different religious organizations who meet to plan an inclusive December interfaith gathering in their city
  • Ten engineers who work at ten different energy companies worldwide, but who all share the goal of creating more environmentally sensitive fuel choices
  • Six high school students and their six exchange students from different parts of the world gathering to discuss how to improve next year’s program

How do we define the concept of a team?

Although a team can really be any number of people, some numbers are better than others! The team should be large enough to develop plenty of multiple ideas, but not so large as to make communications or meetings unwieldy.
